Historical Sites in the Liberated Parts of the Golan.
Quneitra Museum(formerly the Governor's House):
It is an old inn built from black basalt stones. Most of its rooms were domed. t was originally built by a wealthy merchant known as Shamseddin son of al Mazlaq 754-848 Hegira. Because Quneitra had always been a main station for transit caravans traveling to Palestine and Egypt, the inn was built big enough to accommodate large numbers of travelers. It is 40 x12 m i.e. 480 square meters .Just before the 1967 war it was used a s the governor's house.
In 1992 a presidential decree no .557 classified the inn as a historical site. Later it was changed into a museum. Its rooms were designed to show items according to the civilizations that had flourished in Quneitra from a chronological point of view:

In the front room archeologists found 160 pottery items :Bowls, plates, glasses, jars …..etc. in white ,brown and grey colors. -The second Tomb: is 15 m to the south of the first one. It can be accessed through a 10.20 m long ladder in the shape of a right angle. At the left end of the ladder there is a tomb that can reached through an 8 steps spiral stairs. The sarcophagus inside is 2 m long,70 c.m. wide in the side of the head and 30 c.m. wide in the side of the legs. The Tomb is 14 m under ground.
During last excavations two 22 m long paralleled walls were discovered. A 2,5 m wide corridor separates between them. It is tiled with stones and is gradually rising from the south to the north. The walls are believed to be the main protective walls of the ancient city located on the hill.
